According to the reports, Papri Z Banerjee, an Assistant Professor of English department from Guwahati’s Icon Commerce College had made a series of controversial remarks against the Indian soldiers on social media following the Pulwama terror attack, in which 40 brave CRPF jawans were martyred.
While the Pulwama terror attack was an act of cowardice that broke the hearts of all Indians, Banerjee, on February 15 had posted that – “The terrorism maybe Islamic but Karma is a very Indic concept."
She wrote on social media – “45 brave young men were killed yesterday. This was not war. They didn’t get the opportunity to fight back. This was cowardice of the highest order. It would break the heart of any Indian. But what have the security forces done in the valley? You rape their women. You aim and kill their children. You slaughter their men. Your media constantly demonizes them. And you expect no retaliation? You know what? The terrorism maybe Islamic but KARMA is a very Indic, very Sanatana Dharma concept.Go chew on that!”
Many people had strongly reacted to her post and demanded the police to arrest her.
The post was criticized and shared widely on social media platforms.
Following the objectionable remarks, the Assam police had registered a case against the lady professor at Chandmari police station in Guwahati and arrested her.
Earlier, the Icon Commerce College had suspended Papri Z Banerjee following her derogatory remarks.
