On the day of inauguration of MyNation, our correspondent Siddharth Rai had broken the story of a sexual misdemeanour by a member of Congress's cyber cell, Chirag Patnaik, with further information that the party's leadership, including president Rahul Gandhi, was paying no heed to the plight of the victim. Last night, the alleged harasser was arrested.

Senior in the Congress social media cell Chirag Patnaik was arrested in Delhi Monday night on charges of sexually harassing younger colleague Nausheen Haider (name changed). He got bail hours later from the North Avenue police station where the complaint is lodged.

MyNation and Asianet News were the first to break this news and carry an exclusive interview with the alleged victim.

On July 3, an FIR was filed by the Delhi police naming the accused Patnaik. In the @MyNation interview, Nausheen had accused the Congress member of sexual advances.

She also accused Congress social media head Divya Spandana of serious professional harassment. She said she had to leave the Congress IT cell job.

Earlier, Nausheen had written to Congress president Rahul Gandhi seeking his help in the matter. But he kept a steady silence on the sexual harassment matter in his own party.

In the wake of the controversy, Spandana had also tried to allegedly shield Patnaik, who is said to be her close aide. Divya Spandana is a co-accused in the FIR, charged with mental harassment.
