The day-long conference, to be hosted at the Jamnagar air base will be attended by all army commanders and their equivalents from the Air Force and the Navy
New Delhi: Seeking to highlight the importance of jointness in the Indian armed forces, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the top commanders of the three services at the Jamnagar air base on September 28, a day before the second anniversary of the surgical strike in Pakistan.
The conference was being planned for a long time but will be held now to address the key issue of integration among the three forces.
"This was the turn of the Air Force to hold the conference at its base after the Navy hosted it on INS Vikramaditya in 2015 and the Army in Dehradun last year. Jamnagar is an air force base for protection of Gujarat and maritime interests in that region," government sources said here.
The day-long conference, to be hosted at the air base will be attended by all army commanders and their equivalents from the Air Force and the Navy.
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be present at the conference, which is being organised outside Delhi for the third time after 2015.
The first conference was conducted at INS Vikramaditya off the coast of Kochi on December 15, 2015 after Modi, in his first address to the forces asked them to hold the meeting at operational bases.
The conference is expected to focus on the surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC), the prevailing situation on the LoC, the situation at the border with China and the emerging security situation in the country and the neighbourhood.
