Sonia Arunkumar, who was once reportedly associated with the Tamil news channel Puthiya Thalaimurai, tweeted that PM Modi should have drowned while taking the holy dip. She immediately drew flak from all quarters.
Chennai: With the ongoing Kumbh mela at Prayagraj, PM Modi took a dip at the holy confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati rivers on Sunday. He shared the experience on Twitter with a video of himself taking the holy dip and captioned it - "Had the good fortune of taking a holy dip at the #Kumbh. Prayed for the well being of 130 crore Indians."
However, catching all by surprise was the tweet put out by a former Tamil journalist, who wished he had drowned in the river.Sonia Arunkumar, who was once reportedly associated with the Tamil news channel Puthiya Thalaimurai, tweeted that PM Modi should have drowned while taking the holy dip. She immediately drew flak from all quarters. But she chose to lock her Twitter profile than delete the tweet.
The former journalist spoke to MyNation and said, "It was a tweet meant as a joke. I said it sarcastically. And never thought it will be blown out of proportion. I decided not to delete the tweet after I received threats. If they file a complaint, I am willing to fight it."
Claiming that Sonia Arunkumar is a serial offender, SG Suryah, vice president, BJP Youth Wing, Tamil Nadu, further requested people to put up screenshots and links of various "abusive tweets" posted by her.
