'My first priority would be to ensure that our relation does not influence my work in any way,' constable Janardan Singh told about his son joining the police force as an IPS officer
Lucknow: Janardan Singh has no qualms about saluting his son. He, in fact, does it with pride. A police constable in Lucknow, Singh is over the moon after his son, Anoop Kumar Singh cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam to become an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer.
Singh posted at the Vibhutikhand police station will now work under his son Anoop, who took charge as the SP on Saturday.
"He is first an officer, then my son. I will salute him just like I would do to greet any other officer. I will obey his orders,” Janardan told The Times of India, overwhelmed with emotions.
“My first priority would be to ensure that our relation does not influence my work in any way," he told the daily.
Anoop is a 2014-batch IPS officer, who joined as SP (north) in Lucknow. "My father has always been my inspiration. My day starts with touching his feet in the morning. I have tried to live up to his principles,” Anoop said. He is thankful that his father had stressed on integrity than simply studies.
Recalling his childhood memories, the new SP said, "I still remember, he used to carry me and my younger sister Madhu to our school in Barabanki on his bicycle. He worked very hard to ensure our studies continued. Despite financial crunch, he never let my studies suffer, my school fees was always paid on time and I got all the books I needed. He would go on duty and we would not meet for months, but he kept a tab on our studies and activities in school by enquiring from his peers in the city.”
Anoop stays with his parents, his wife and their one-year-old daughter Yashasvini.
