Lt Gen (retd) Dua has set an example for the officers who would retire in the future and perhaps abashed a lot of his retired senior colleagues as the Army has recently initiated a move to withdraw around 2,000 sahayaks from retired officers
New Delhi: At a time when officers are known to misuse government facilities even after superannuation, former Integrated Defence Staff chief Lt Gen Satish Dua set an example for others as he left for his home on his personal motorcycle instead of the official car after retiring from Army on Wednesday.
Dua was, until yesterday, the head of the tri-services’ Integrated Defence Staff. He retired after putting 40 years in the Indian Army.
“Lt Gen Satish Dua hangs his boots after four decades of service to the nation and the Army. Riding home on his bike after handing over (the charges), no staff no staff car! Salute you, soldier, for your many contributions (sic) to the nation’s security, well regarded and respected military leader & soldier a great role model,” former DGMO and Dua’s senior Lt Gen Vinod Bhatia tweeted.
Dua has set an example for the officers who would retire in the future and perhaps abashed a lot of his retired senior colleagues as the Army has recently initiated a move to withdraw around 2,000 sahayaks from retired officers. This happened after veterans living near the national capital complained to Army chief Gen Bipin Rawat about the misuse of manpower and its employment in unauthorised manners.
