Rahul Gandhi, after finishing his speech, walked across the floor of the House and hugged Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has raised strong objections to Rahul Gandhi’s act of hugging Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said that if the Congress president wants to hug the prime minister, he can meet him at his residence. "Ye kya natak chal raha hai?" asked an irate Mahajan in Parliament.
Mahajan added that the Congress leader is like her son and she should correct him when he is wrong.
“I didn’t understand what happened just now. I said what kind of drama is going on. The prime minister was sitting in the House in his capacity as the prime minister. We should keep this in mind before making any move or gesture," Mahajan said.
The Lok Sabha speaker said that Rahul "is not my enemy, he is like my son", and that "as a mother I must correct him when he is wrong”.
The Congress president, after finishing his speech in Lok Sabha during the no-confidence debate, walked across the floor of the House and hugged Modi.
“Aap logon ke andar mere liye nafrat hai, aap mujhe Pappu aur bohot gaaliyan dekar bula sakte hain, lekin mere andar aapke liye nafrat nahi hai,” (You people hate me. You all call me Pappu and throw abuses at me. However, I do not hate you) Rahul said.
