Kumbh Mela 2019: Over 100 million gather for world's largest religious festival in Prayagraj

The Prayagraj Kumbh Mela 2019 began on Tuesday morning with devotees from around the world offering their prayers at the largest human congregation in the world.
The shahi snan (holy bath) began at the break of dawn today, with sadhus belonging to 13 akhadas taking a dip in the holy water. No one is allowed to enter the holy river until the akhadas finish their shahi snan.
The city will witness the gathering of over 100 million pilgrims over the next 48 days. The Kumbh Mela will end on March 4.
