Kolkata: When you have three major bridge collapses in the past five years in Kolkata alone, with the latest not being even a month old, a nine-second video showing dust coming out from the AJC Bose Road flyover is enough to create panic among the public.
The video, which started doing the rounds since Thursday morning, shows a huge amount of dust coming out of the AJC Bose Road flyover in the Moulali area of the city.
The flyover is one of the three longest ones in Kolkata and connects Park Circus and Rabindra Sadan — two crucial points of the city.
With the memories of the Majerhat bridge collapse fresh in people's minds, it has taken them no time to assume that this flyover is also on the verge of collapse.
The video went viral in no time and was shared widely across WhatsApp and Twitter.

After seeing panic spreading like wildfire, Kolkata Police stepped in and clarified that the dust was due to cleaning of the flyover by the maintenance crew.
At the crossing of AJC Bose Road – Rawdon Street some people had noticed that sand was falling from the Flyover and this was creating panic. This has been recorded on video and was been circulated over social media. (1/2)

Though it was not clarified why the maintenance staff swept the dust away the way it was captured in the video, what is clear is that the bridge will be intact, at least for now.
