Calling these videos savage and foolish, Kerala police have asked people to avoid posting such videos

Thiruvananthapuram: In the past few weeks, an unusual fight has broken out between a few Malayalees and Tamilians on social media, spreading messages of hate. There are reports of certain videos being circulated on social media, following which a particular group of youngsters from both Kerala and Tamil Nadu are seen exchanging hate speech against each other.

People don't know where this originated from, but many came forward as a collective responsibility to make sure the hate campaign stops immediately. Netizens were seen posting on social media with hashtags  #KeralaLovesTamilNadu,  #TogetherWeShallOvercome, #WeLoveTamilNadu and many more. Kerala and Tamil Nadu have a long-standing association of mutual love, respect and cooperation.

People of Tamil Nadu have recently shown so much generosity and compassion towards their neighbouring State Kerala in their most trying times. Some people also allege that whoever is supporting this hate posts do not hold the best of interests of these two States.

Seira Salim, an Idea Star Singer contestant of Asianet channel, has already done a Facebook Live asking for people to promote peace. Her video has received several comments from social media users, both for and against.

Hate messages and videos with language that's insulting to each other's community have been doing the rounds. The hate campaign has gone viral, so the Kerala police have now stepped in to keep a check on this problem.

On the official Facebook page of the Kerala police, the following message has been posted:

"Videos of a young Malayalee woman and a Tamil man making statements based on a personal feud are being shared widely on social media. It has come to our notice that other people have started portraying these personal videos as a problem between the two States and have started posting videos challenging people from across the border."

Calling such videos as savage and foolish, the Kerala police have asked people to avoid posting such videos. Several users have commended the Kerala police for its message and have urged people to stay united.
