Kerala: Smiling BJP MP Suresh Gopi under attack for selfies

Several party leaders in Kerala slammed MP Gopi’s selfie celebrations. They questioned how he could be so happy after visiting parents who were mourning the death of their son.

Malayalam actor-cum-MP Suresh Gopi was heavily crticised recently for his smiling selfies after visiting the deceased Student Federation of India (SFI) leader Abhimanyu’s house in Idukki district.

Gopi called upon the parents of Abhimanyu, who was killed at Ernakulam’s Maharaja's College on July 2. The  SFI leader was stabbed to death allegedly by Campus Front of India (CPI) members.

During his visit to Abhimanyu’s house in Vattavada, Gopi promised to help his parents, who said they believed in police investigation.

The Rajya Sabha MP courted controversy after he left Abhimanyu’s house and clicked selfies with the locals of Vattavada. In the pictures, that have gone viral on social media, Gopi is seen smiling.

CPI (M) leader V Sivankutty took to his Facebook page to attack Gopi. He asked how the actor could be smiling in a place where people were crying due to Abhimanyu’s death.
