Opposition asks if Pinarayi Vijayan is implementing Bengal 'model' of eliminating rivals in Sabarimala

In Bengal, they bury the body in a pit dug deep and add a sack-full of salt. So that there is no evidence such as blood, photo or news of the dead body, a Kerala CPM rebel leader had said four years ago. Is this 'policy' being implemented in 2018 by the Vijayan government to deal with the Sabarimala stand-off?

Kannur: CPI(M)-led LDF government is earning the ill repute of being ruthlessly Stalinist in the way it is handling the Sabarimala issue in Kerala.

Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan blamed the RSS for the attacks near the shrine. Over 2,800 Ayyappa devotees have been arrested.

BJP chief Amit Shah said during his recent rally in the state, "The Left government in Kerala has used Sabarimala issue to arrest workers and supporters of the BJP and other political parties."

Rewind to May 4, 2012. AP Abdullakutty, who jumped from the CPI(M) to the Congress, was a state MLA. That was the duration when leader of the Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) TP Chandrasekharan was found dead. Reacting to the incident, Abdullakutty narrated a 2008 incident detailing Vijayan's alleged statement to party leaders at an inner-circle meeting.

The then MLA said that Vijayan had instructed his leaders to learn from party workers in Bengal about the methods of eliminating political rivals by leaving no evidence.

In Bengal, they bury the body in a pit dug deep and add a sack-full of salt. So that there will be no evidence such as blood, photo or news of the dead body.

Is the Vijayan government executing that 'plan' to deal with the Sabarimala issue? MyNation reached out to Abdullakutty for an answer. But the politician refused to comment.

However, claiming that there was some truth to this rumour, Shobhana Viswanathan, a native of Onchiyam, Kozhikode district, said, "Vijayan and his party members do not fear blood. His party is capable of killing their own worker if he or she stands against the leader's wish. That was one of the major reasons for TP Chandrasekharan's death."

Let's not forget, Viswanathan said, Abdullakutty was expelled from CPI(M) in 2009 for not adhering to the party ideologies.

"Just like Abdullakutty's revelation, Vijayan may have the Bengal CPM's 'model' in mind to eliminate Ayyappa devotees. Just the way he had killed TP Chandrasekharan, the devotees, who are against him, could also be killed. And these arrests could be the first step of his plan," a BJP worker, who wished to stay anonymous, said.

The blood spilled, the gory photos circulated and the dreadful news of over 2,800 devotees, who are now arrested, may soon be forgotten, the opposition in Kerala believes. It is to be seen whether Amit Shah stands like a rock, as he promised, during his recent visit to Kerala.
