The police have issued a lookout notice against eight absconding accused in the case related to the murder of SFI activist Abhimanyu.
Kochi: The Special Investigation Team of Kerala police looking into the murder of SFI activist Abhimanyu has released a lookout notice for eight accused in the case.
Abhimanyu M, an SFI district committee member from Idukki district, was pursuing his second-year chemistry degree course in Maharaja's college. On 2 July, 20-year-old Abhimanyu was attacked and killed at Maharaja’s College hostel around 12:30 am.
Two others, Arjun and Vineet, were also injured in the attack. It is alleged that Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and Campus Front activists attacked and killed the Students Federation of India (SFI) leader.
The Special Investigation Team probing the case issued the notice against second accused Arif Bin Salim (25), a native of Aluva, sixth accused Sanid (26), a resident of Nettoor, ninth accused Shifas VN (23), a Palluruthy native, tenth accused Sahal H (21) of Nettoor, eleventh accused Jisal Razak (21), twelfth accused Mohammed Shahim (31), both natives of Palluruthy, fourteenth accused Faaiz PM (20) of Aluva and fifteenth accused Thanseel (22) of Nettoor.
While the police arrested 16 in the case so far, at least 13 more persons, including the eight who were directly involved in the murder, are absconding. The witnesses have already identified the eight accused.
As per the case, a 16-member gang who were activists of Campus Front of India, SDPI and Popular Front of India conspired to kill Abhimanyu.
The SIT, meanwhile, is in the final stages of preparing the chargesheet in the case. Campus Front of India state secretary Muhammed Rifa, Saneesh, who led the four-member gang from Palluruthy, and Muhammed JI, a student of Maharaja’s College, are the three prime accused in the case.
