Kochi: A nun in her late 40s had alleged that she was sexually abused by Franco Mulakkal 13 times from the year 2014 to 2016.

According to reports, the brother of Kerala nun, who accused the Bishop, alleged that he was been offered a bribe of Rs 5 crore if the complainant withdraws the case.

A relative of Franco Mulakkal and two other priests had allegedly approached the brother’s friend and said that they are willing to pay the amount of Rs 5 crore if the nun withdraws her complaint.

The High Court of Kerala has asked the police officials to submit a detailed report as part of the investigation in the Kerala nun rape case.

The nun has also petitioned the Vatican alleging that the Bishop is using “money and political power” to cover the case.

In a letter to Giambattista Diquattro, Vatican’s Apostolic Nuncio, the nun alleged that by continuing as Jalandhar diocese Bishop, Franco Mulakkal and his associates “are using the money power of the parish to divert the police investigation”.
