In the anticipatory bail plea prepared to submit at the Kerala High Court, the bishop said the nun had a personal resentment towards him
Kochi: Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulakkal has come forward raising severe allegations against the nun, who lodged a sexual abuse case against him. Jalandhar diocese bishop Franco Mulakkal has been accused of rape and unnatural sex with Kerala nun multiple times between 2014 and 2016. Earlier, bishop Franco sent a letter to Pope Francis, requesting him to accept his resignation from the post of Jalandhar diocese.
“The allegation raised by the nun is baseless. She is a regular troublemaker at the convent in Kuruvilangad, Kottayam. She has a personal resentment towards me,” alleged Franco Mulakkal in the anticipatory bail plea prepared to submit at the high court.
“The nun and her family blackmailed me. Her relatives threatened me that they will attack me if I land in Kerala. She was removed from her post in the convent since she was a regular troublemaker. She developed hatred towards me following this. She had not mentioned anything about the sexual abuse in the first statement given to the police. I suspect that there is conspiracy involved in this since she raised allegations later. Even the police has mentioned about the conflicts in the statements of the nun. I will cooperate with the investigation completely. The media is constantly trying to crucify me,” alleged the bishop.
‘Missionaries of Jesus’ revealed the photograph of the nun, who had lodged a complaint against Jalandhar bishop to the media. They handed over the photograph with a warning note that they are not responsible if the media published the nun’s photo. The picture was attached with the investigation report submitted by the church authorities against the protest of nuns in Kochi, Kerala.
