Kerala HC approves Sabarimala ropeway survey

The Kerala high court has given approval for the project submitted by the Devaswom board. The focus of the survey will be on the number of trees to be cut down and the distance between concrete pillars.
 

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala high court has given its approval to conduct a survey for the construction of a ropeway from Pampa hilltop to the police barricade at Sannidhanam.

The court has given its nod for the project submitted by the Devaswom board. The survey will focus on the number of trees to be cut down and the distance between concrete pillars. The cost can be found out only after the survey. The survey is set to commence soon.

Benefits of this ropeway include, shifting of devotees to hospital in case of an emergency and transport of materials for poojas to Sannidhanam. The survey team would determine the total forest area needed for the ropeway project between the two terminal points, possessing a width of 12 metres.

Aravana will be prepared using new technology at a relatively low cost with the help of the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) in Mysore.
