This new development of Malayalam typing is part of making it the official language for governance
Thiruvananthapuram: All the government employees in Kerala would be taught Malayalam typing. At the end of the Malayalam typing classes, there will be an exam and grading given to them.
As per reports, more than 80% of government employees don't know Malayalam typing. This new development is a part of making Malayalam the official language for governance.
The new system has already started in Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram districts.
Seven hundred employees have already enrolled themselves for the course in Ernakulam and 80 in Thiruvananthapuram.
By the end of this month, the new scheme will extend to Thrissur, Alappuzha and Idukki districts.
The training classes for the employees are conducted at Model Finishing Schools under the institution of the human resources department. The Malayalam typing is taught under Unicode aided software.
With Malayalam typing, training in word processor, spreadsheets, presentation software will also be taught to government employees.
Also, basic knowledge to operate and rectify computers was also included in the training courses.
