Kerala: Earlier, there was a decision not to close the sluice gates of the Idukki dam till the monsoon season gets over.
After a gap of one month, all the sluice gates of Idukki dam were closed on today. As the water level came down to 2391 feet, all gates were closed. Earlier, there was a decision not to close them till the monsoon season gets over. But it was decided to shut the gates after the rains decreased. Currently, 2391 feet is the water level of the dam while 2401 feet is the maximum capacity of the dam. As the rain intensified last month, all gates were opened on August 9.
