An Indian Coast Guard rescue and relief helicopter carried 1,000 kg of medicines, food packets, drinking water, sanitary napkins, baby diapers, bed sheets, toothpaste etc. and have dropped them at remote and inaccessible flooded areas in Kerala.
The Indian Coast Guard is involved in providing succour and relief to the flood-affected populace of Kerala for the past ten days. Reinforcements of ships, aircraft, boats and relief material have been made from various other locations. Currently, 36 rescue teams with 38 rubberised boats and 21 mechanised hired boats have evacuated about 3,000 people and guided 7,000 people to safer locations during ongoing rescue and relief operations. About eight tonnes of food and provisions have also been distributed by coastguard teams to the affected people
