Mollywood megastar Mohanlal met PM Modi when 10 leaders including AK Antony in Kerala are still waiting for a meeting with him on crucial matters like financial aid for rebuilding the State post floods
Kerala MP Karunakaran criticised Narendra Modi for meeting megastar Mohanlal while claiming that the PM is refusing to meet the MPs from the flood-hit State.
The CPM leader who represents Kasargod expressed his anger in a Facebook post stating that the PM met with Mohanlal when 10 leaders including AK Antony waited for a meeting on the crucial discussion.
The MPs had submitted a written request to Modi for a face-to-face meeting to discuss the aftermath of the floods in the State. They also wanted to talk about rebuilding efforts apart from seeking financial assistance. An appointment was sought on August 30 or 31 suiting Modi’s convenience.
The parliamentarians were allowed time on September 3. However, the date was put off, setting a mood of uncertainty. “The PM is ignoring Kerala. I express my protest over this,” wrote P Karunakaran on social media.
Heavy rains, floods and landslides in Kerala in August displaced lakhs of people and destroying roads, bridges and infrastructure across the State. The Kerala administration has estimated a loss of Rs 20,000 crore and is struggling to rebuild the ravaged state.
Modi met Mohanlal on Monday triggering speculation of superstar joining BJP. The actor allayed the rumours because he met the Prime Minister to reportedly discuss about Viswasanthi Foundation, an organisation founded by the actor. It is named after Mohanlal’s parents, Viswanathan Nair and Santhakumari. Mohanlal informed Modi about starting a cancer centre under Viswasanthi foundation in Wayanad district of Kerala.
