Asha Lawrence, daughter of veteran CPI(M) leader MM Lawrence, was removed from the government job after her son Milan Lawrence Emmanuel took part in the one-day fast led by BJP workers fighting the Sabarimala verdict in front of the DGP's office in Thiruvananthapuram.

Thiruvananthapuram: CPI(M) leader MM Lawrence's daughter, Asha Lawrence has been removed from her government job after her son participated in the BJP protest. Asha Lawrence was working at SIDCO (Small Industries Development Corporation Ltd) sales emporium in Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram as a daily wager.

SIDCO is a state government-owned public sector corporation and it was established in November 1975 for the development and promotion of small-scale industries.

Asha staged a protest in front of MD's office after she was dismissed from the job. She also alleged that she had been removed from her post because her son participated in the BJP protest fighting the Sabarimala verdict. SIDCO authorities said the decision was taken to remove her because she was just a daily wage employee.

On October 30 (Tuesday), CPI(M) leader MM Lawrence's grandson had participated in a protest organised by the BJP fighting the Sabarimala verdict. Milan Lawrence Emmanuel took part in the one-day fast led by BJP state president PS Sreedharan Pillai in front of the DGP office.

MM Lawrence said his grandson's participation in the BJP programme was wrong and that it was done without his knowledge.
