Kashmir's Lal Chowk resonates with 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' chant (Video)

Chants of 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' resonated at the Lal Chowk of Srinagar on Saturday amid heavy troop deployment across Jammu and Kashmir. The man who is yet to be identified ran towards the city centre with an Indian tricolour in a bid to hoist it. However, security personnel stationed near Lal Chowk was quick to detain him. 

The situation in entire Kashmir, and that particularly across capital Srinagar, is extremely tense, with apprehensions and speculation flying thick and fast about a possible abrogation of Article 35A if the government does not get a favourable verdict. The Supreme Court is seized of the matter in which the constitutional validity of the contentious article has been challenged. Article 35A gives special privileges to Kashmiris that are discriminatory.
