Security forces apprehended Irfan Ahmad Gani, who was planning to execute terror plans in the Uri area, while he was travelling by a bus with a live grenade in his possession
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday arrested an over-ground terrorist affiliated to Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind.
Based on specific information that an over ground terrorist of Ansar Gazwat ul Hind (AGH), namely Irfan Ahmad Gani hailing from Tral, is on his way to Uri to execute some terrorist plan, multiple Motor Vehicle Checking Points (MVCPs) were established by the police and other security forces in the area.
Gani was arrested with a live hand grenade in his possession while he was crossing the Sheeri stretch of the Baramulla-Uri road. A mobile phone was seized from the suspected terrorist, too.
Preliminary investigations into the matter have revealed Gani’s affiliation with terrorist outfit Gazwat ul Hind. He is said to have hatched conspiracies jointly with others in the outfit for terrorist activities in the Uri area.
A case has been registered against Gani following FIR No 39/2018 under the provisions of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at the Sheeri Police Station.
Highly placed sources told MyNation that Gani has been arrested based on the information provided by an arrested terrorist.
Further, security agencies have detained many suspects from Jammu as well as Srinagar based on clues given by Irfan Gani during his interrogation.
