Anantnag, Kashmir: 3 terrorists gunned down in encounter, mobile internet service snapped

Anantnag: Three terrorists have been gunned down by security forces in an encounter which broke out in early hours of Friday morning in Kokernag area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir.

A police official told MyNation that three terrorists were killed during the operation. The body of one terrorist has been recovered whereas two others are yet to be recovered.

Confirming an encounter, Director General of Police SP Vaid tweeted, "Encounter was going on in Kukernag area of Anantnag, reportedly presence of 2/3 terrorists, the firing stopped, the search is on".

Police have also detailed some associates of terrorists for questioning. Two terror hideouts were destroyed and some incriminating material seized by the police.

In wake of the encounter, authorities have decided to snap mobile internet service in parts of Anantnag district.

The operation was launched by a joint team of Studies and Observation Group (SOG) and army in Gadole hamlet of Vailoo area of Kokernag during midnight, after specific inputs about the presence of three terrorists in the area.
