1,200 students have issued a memorandum in which they have claimed that no such anti-national activity had taken place and the three suspended students were innocent
Aligarh: Days after the suspension of three Kashmiri Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) students for paying tribute to Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Manan Wani inside the campus, more than a thousand of Kashmiri students have come forward and said that they will surrender their degrees to protest against this move of the university.
One thousand and two hundred students have issued a memorandum in which they have claimed that no such anti-national activity had taken place and the three suspended students were innocent.
However, a video of those students raising anti-Indian slogans went viral on social media, following which an FIR was lodged. The university also served a show cause notice to nine students for organising the event for paying tribute to the Hizbul commander.
The university has already initiated an inquiry and set up a board, which will be submitting its report by Wednesday. Kashmir-based politicians and sympathisers of terror outfits have also come forward to support these students.
This move of the students can also be seen as a step to pressurise the university administration to withdraw their decision of suspending the three students. The university administration had earlier told My Nation that such activities had taken place inside the campus.
