A speeding truck ran over a nine-year-old boy, who was trying to cross the road at Komaranahalli in Shivamogga district in Karnataka. Angry residents blocked the road for over an hour, demanding compensation and repair of the road that is in poor condition. The truck carrying gas cylinders ran over the boy, killing him instantly. Residents protested, stating that this was the fourth accident in three months. They demanded that the roads should be repaired and widened to prevent accidents. They also demanded the transport minister's presence and threatened to continue with the roadblock till the people's representative arrives. Following this, Malebennur police arrived at the spot and took control of the situation, convincing people to withdraw the protest.
