Karnataka minister lashes out at SP: Kumaraswamy justifies Mahesh's actions

Tumakuru: A video of IPS officer, Tumakuru superintendent of police (SP) Divya Gopinath in tears after the tourism minister from JD(S), SR Mahesh walked inside to pay his last respects to Shivakumara Swamiji in Tumakuru on January 22 was making the rounds. Minister allegedly insulted the SP for stopping the him from entering the VIP area. However, later Divya Gopinath spoke to the media and said that no such incident took place and she was not insulted. However, Karnataka chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy too spoke on the same and defended his minister's actions and said that Mahesh was trying to bring the lapse to the notice of the officer and there was no question of insulting her.
