Illegal sand mining: Karnataka Police seize five sand-laden boats

The Karnataka Police in Hirehadagali station limits raided the Tungabhadra river bed at Mylara village and seized five sand-laden boats which were ready for illegal transportation. Two people have been arrested and the rest managed to flee from the place. Four more boats with sand are still under water and the police are trying to retrieve them. Hundreds of people are involved in mining sand illegally, say the Hirehadagali Police.
