Karwar: Following Goa government's ban on importing fish from Karnataka, the fishermen of the state flagged a protest against the neighbouring government. They stopped the trucks carrying fish from Goa and forced the drivers to turn back. This happened at NH-66 near Polem check-post, Goa-Karnataka border. The police officials, sensing the current pressure, convinced the truck drivers to take their vehicles back and not enter the state. The protest came after a ban was called by the Goa government claiming that 'formalin', a preservative causing cancer, was found in the samples of fish imported from Karnataka.
