Sources say veteran Congress leaders are not happy with the way Siddaramaiah is working as the chief of the Coalition Coordination Committee.

Belagavi: Former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah had flown to Singapore ditching the winter session of Assembly being held in Belagavi. But, he cut short his trip and returned to the state, two days ahead of his schedule. This has led to speculations that all is not well in the Congress-JD(S) alliance in Karnataka.

Siddaramaiah reached Bengaluru on Wednesday night. He had gone to Malaysia and Singapore to attend his friend's daughter’s wedding. He had left Bengaluru on the day the winter session began in Belagavi, on December 10. He was bombarded with questions on the timing of his foreign tour. He had defended himself saying that he has a personal life too and he is not liable to answer every question on his personal visits.

However, now he is back in the state in a hurry, raising more questions.

Sources close to Siddaramaiah said that he has returned to Karnataka after taking part in the wedding festivities. The wedding celebrations are over and there is no need to speculate, added the sources.

But sources in the Congress said that not only the opposition, but people from the Congress and JD(S) too expressed disappointment over Siddaramaiah’s trip.

Veteran Congress leaders reportedly questioned Siddaramaiah's integrity over leaving the state at a time when there are many challenges ahead of the alliance government. It is also said that the leaders have expressed disappointment over Siddaramaiah's way of working.

It is said that Siddaramaiah, being the chief of the Coalition Coordination Committee convenes meetings at the time comfortable to him. Thus, many leaders are said to have decided to revolt against him and to boycott the legislative meeting to be held on Tuesday, reported Suvarna News.

It is also said that Siddaramaiah returned in a hurry to take charge of the situation and bring the matter under control, so that the alliance government is not in trouble.

Meanwhile, sources also said that though he is back in Karnataka, he will not attend the winter session till Monday.
