Karnataka Congress feud: Ganesh, accused of assaulting Anand Singh, missing

A case was filed by MLA Anand Singh accusing that Ganesh had assaulted him at the Eagleton Resort in Bengaluru. The Congress has ordered a probe against Ganesh and suspended him from the party

Bengaluru: Congress MLA JN Ganesh of Kampli has gone missing after a complaint was filed against him on charges of assaulting fellow Congress MLA Anand Singh in the Eagleton Resort in Bengaluru on January 19.

The Congress leaders including water resource minister DK Shivakumar had claimed that Singh was not injured and there was no brawl inside the resort, where more than 70 MLAs from the Congress were holed up.

However, reports claimed that there was a heated argument between Ganesh and Singh that led to former assaulting the latter.

After photos of an injured Singh lying on a bed in the Apollo hospital and the medical report of him obtained by the media came out in the open, the case took a turn. The medical report stated that Singh had suffered a black eye, nasal blood clot, and tenderness over left lower chest.

Singh's wife too threatened of taking legal action against Ganesh, if her husband was injured.

Following these developments, Singh filed a complaint against Ganesh at Bidadi police station in Ramanagara district. The complaint copy stated that Ganesh had assaulted him after accusing him of stifling the supply of funds to him during May 2018 Assembly elections. He had also accused Singh of giving prominence to his nephew.

The Congress has ordered an internal inquiry into the alleged brawl. It has also suspended Ganesh from the part pending an inquiry.

But as the news of complaint being filed spread, Ganesh was not reachable physically as well as over the phone. His phone is switched off.

Suvarna News has reported that according to sources, Ganesh is hiding at one of his close aides’ house in Mysuru.  It is also said that Ganesh has support of an influential politician and has applied for anticipatory bail to avoid arrest.

The report also claimed that Ganesh is in contact with his family through a private phone number and is said to have assured them that he is safe and will soon get bail.
