Yaduveer's increasing presence and frequent visits to Mandya are said to be a sign that he is trying to build a rapport with the public there
Mysuru: The BJP in Karnataka is trying to woo Mysuru maharaja, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar to contest the Lok Sabha election from Mandya, Karnataka, say reports.
Yaduveer's increasing presence and frequent visits to Mandya are said to be a sign that he is trying to build a rapport with the public there.
Though there has been no announcement in this regard from Yaduveer himself, the BJP leaders are trying hard to convince Yaduveer to contest from the party.
According to current developments, there are chances of Congress and JD(S) joining hands to field one candidate for MP elections scheduled to be held in 2019. Thus, it is expected to be a fight between JD(S) and BJP for the post.
No party has announced its candidate for Lok Sabha elections so far. But though previous king of Mysuru, Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodeyar was an active member of Congress, there's been much friction between Mysuru royal family with Siddaramaiah (former chief minister of Karnataka) lately. As Congress continues to be in power as an ally, the friction is said to be alive.
Yaduveer has not made any political statements so far. Only time will tell if he is generally trying to build his rapport with the people or there is a political agenda behind him visiting Mandya frequently.
