Kargil Vijay Diwas: A look back at events from Pakistan's treachery to India's triumph

On 26 July every year, Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated to honour the contribution and sacrifices of the Kargil war heroes who laid down their lives to protect the nation. In 1999, a war broke out between India and Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan wanted the Indian forces to withdraw from the Siachen glacier. The war was fought for more than 60 days.
