The Centre will give more funds to Kerala when the accounts and statements of losses are given
Thiruvananthapuram: Union Minister of State, Alphons Kannanthanam has posted on Facebook that Kerala submerged in flood due to money greed of the Pinarayi government.
"Even in dangerous situations, the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) tried to make profit worth crores by filling water in dams to the maximum level. If the dam management authorities had released water in small quantities earlier, this heavy loss could not have happened. It is not the minister's responsibility, but dam safety officials' responsibility to open the dam at the right time. The Centre will give more funds to Kerala and when the accounts and statements of losses are given," he said on his Facebook page.
Kannanthanam said that giving safety alerts through Facebook and that too at 1:30 am was a foolish thing. Except for the Idukki dam, the government didn't know much about other 40 dams.
In many places, the government couldn't alert people in time. Politicians deciding the time to open or close the dams should stop," he said adding that the Centre had extended never-before cooperation and help to flood-hit Kerala, about which the chief minister was also aware.
