Imran Hussain, Delhi environment minister stated that 44 joint teams are appointed to curb air pollution. Other agencies are instructed to work for the same.
Delhi: 44 joint teams are appointed across the city to curb air pollution and take corrective measures against violators, said Imran Hussain, Delhi environment minister on Tuesday.
Hussain stated that the team will consist of SDMs or tahsildars, and municipal corporation officials, Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), Union ministry of environment and Central Pollution Control Board.
The minister added that the urgent crusade is organised jointly by the Delhi and the Central governments, which demand the citizens to stringently avoid activities that result in air pollution.
The team is assigned to check on garbage burning, vehicular emission, traffic choke points, dug up and dusty roads, industrial emission, construction, demolition waste, and use of diesel generator sets.
Violators of dust control measures and those burning waste materials in open will be dealt with severely.
The public works department, the New Delhi municipal council, the Delhi Development Authority, the Delhi Cantonment Board, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and the 3 municipal corporations are given a heads up to ensure that the construction activities are undertaken without emitting dust or causing pollution.
