Two teachers of a government school were suspended for using foul language against a JD(S) minster and sharing video clips.

Hassan: The Department of Public instructions on Tuesday issued an order of suspending two government school teachers in Karnataka's Hassan district for allegedly being ‘anti-JD(S).’

According to the reports, one of the teachers has been suspended for allegedly using foul language against Karnataka Public Works Department (PWD) Minister H D Revanna through a telephonic conversation. The suspension order mentioned that the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI), of Hassan, has initiated a lawsuit against the teacher after the audio clip of his conversation over the phone was circulated on social media.

“Following a complaint filed by a local JD(S) worker and prima facie it has been proved that it is his voice ...considering this, under the Karnataka Civil Services (Conduct) Regulations, 1966, this teacher is kept under suspension. Being a government employee ...the foul language used by this teacher has tarnished the image of the minister under the Representation of the People Act,” the suspension order reads.

In another case, the Hassan DDPI had a teacher suspended for allegedly sharing video clips of Karnataka's former chief minister Siddaramaiah, campaigning for a Congress candidate from Arakalagudu during the Assembly elections six months ago.

“This teacher has allegedly shared video clippings of the then CM Siddaramaiah campaigning for the Congress candidate A Manju on a department WhatsApp group. A complaint against this teacher was filed by the JD(S) taluk president and prima facie it has been proved that this teacher forwarded the video clip...” the suspension order issued on December 4 said.

The government school teachers have approached the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal. for which the hearing was conducted on Tuesday. A notice has been issued to the government advocate to representatives of the DDPI and the Block Education Office of the sub-divisions concerned.
