Srinagar: Five Pakistani terrorists were gunned down in the Tangdhar sector of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir after a fierce gunbattle near the Line of Control (LoC).
According to sources, search operation were launched by the Army personnel on Saturday evening after they noticed suspected movement along the Line of Control near Pathri Behak in Tangdhar sector, around 180 km from Srinagar. The terrorists opened fire at the jawans, which led to a fierce gunbattle in the dense forest area.
Speaking to MyNation, Army Spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia said, “Three terrorists were killed today, while two were eliminated yesterday taking the total count to five. One of our jawans was killed in the operations.”
One of the terrorists have been identified as Adnan, who was allegedly involved with Jaish-e-Mohammed, was killed during the encounter. The security personnel had also recovered incriminating material from him. Kalia added that a civilian identified as Manzoor Dar from Tral had also sustained injuries in the cross firing.
Pakistan has been trying to sponsor terrorism in the valley, pushing trained Pakistani terrorists into the Indian territory. Recently, three Pakistani terrorists were killed in Reasi district of Jammu and one was eliminated in the Tral area on Monday.
