2 Kashmir-based LeT terrorists gunned down in encounter; internet services snapped

A senior police official told MyNation that two terrorists have been killed in the ongoing encounter in Handwara. The bodies of the killed local terrorists have been recovered

Kupwara: Security forces on early Tuesday morning gunned down two terrorists in Galoora area of Handwara in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.

On a specific input about the presence of terrorists in the area, Indian Army’s 30 RR along with 92 Bn CRPF and SOG launched a cordon and search operation in Galoora area during pre-dawn hours.

Soon after the cordon, terrorists fired upon the joint team of security forces, leading to an encounter.

The police have confirmed the killing of two terrorists in the encounter. The two killed are local terrorists affiliated to Laskar-e Toiba and are identified as Liyaqat from Harwan, Sopore and Furkaan (aged 18 years) from Langate, Handwara.

In the view of the encounter, authorities have snapped internet services in many parts of the district. District administration has also ordered for suspension of classwork in Government Degree College, Handwara and all schools as a precautionary measure to avoid any mishaps.
