Kashmir: Security forces eliminate second terrorist involved in Pattan attack

Srinagar: Security forces on Thursday gunned down a terrorist involved in the Pattan grenade attack. A group of terrorists had earlier carried out a grenade attack on a police party in Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The terrorist, identified as Showkat Ahmad Bhat, was gunned down by security forces in Kakapora area of Pulwama district. 

In this fight between the terrorists and the joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police and 50 RR of Indian Army, another terrorist managed to escape the ambush. The whole area has been cordoned off and a manhunt has been launched on a large scale to arrest the terrorist. 

In an encounter which hardly lasted not more than five minutes, a newly-recruited terrorist of Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen, the face of Pakistan's ISI in the Valley, was killed. An encounter broke out when a group of terrorists, intercepted by security forces, fired upon the Naka party.

The killed terrorist has joined Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen days ago and was made divisional commander of the outfit by Pakistan's ISI. Showkat, a resident of Awantipora area of Pulwama, did his graduation in Pharmacy from Kashmir University.

Pattan Police yesterday has arrested another terrorist named Faizan Majid, 17, who joined Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen a day after Showkat and was involved in Pattan grenade attack.
