The militants got trapped after security forces cordoned the Kellem village in Kulgam district. As a retaliation, the militants started heavy firing on the forces.
Srinagar: Five terrorists have been gunned down by the security forces during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Sunday.
Though their bodies have been recovered, their identities are yet to be ascertained. Several weapons and warlike stores were also recovered from the slain terrorists' hideout.
Following the encounter, locals started pelting stones. Four CRPF personnel also sustained injuries.

The militants got trapped after the joint team of government forces, including 9RR, SOG and CRPF, cordoned the Kellem village. As a retaliation, the militants started heavy firing on the forces.
The forces received information about the presence of the terrorists in the area on Saturday and immediately jumped to action.
Meanwhile, train services remain suspended on Srinagar-Banihal track for the fourth consecutive day today due to security reasons. However, services resume on the Srinagar-Baramulla route.
Mobile internet services have also been suspended in Kulgam.
