Srinagar: Security forces on Saturday gunned down two terrorists in an encounter in the Tikken area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district.
A team of Indian Army's 55 Rashtriya Rifles, 183 battalion of CRPF and special operations group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the area after getting specific information about the presence of some terrorists.
During door-to-door search operations, the terrorists fired upon the security forces triggering an encounter.
A senior police official confirmed the killing of two terrorists in the encounter. "Two terrorists have been gunned down but we are yet to recover bodies. Once we recover bodies, will will be able to share more details on the identity and affiliation of the terrorists. We had inputs about the presence of two-to-three terrorists but firing has stopped. The operation is in the final stage," the official said.

Sources, however, told MyNation that both the terrorists killed in the Pulwama encounter were locals. The two killed terrorists were identified as Liyakat Ahed, who was a resident of Bellow area in Pulwama and Wajeed of Babhara area in Pulwama.
