The forces received information about the presence of the terrorists in the area on Saturday and immediately jumped to action.

Kulgam has become a hotbed for terror activities. In November, two back to back encounters rocked the district. In the first encounter (November 22), one civilian got injured after terrorists attacked an Army camp there. The injured woman was rushed to a nearby hospital.
In the second encounter (November 27), two terrorists were killed and one Army jawan was injured.
Last year, in October, three terrorists were killed by the security forces in Larnoo area of Kulgam district. Two Army personnel were also injured in the encounter.
In September 2018, train and internet services were disrupted in parts of the district following an encounter between security forces and terrorists. The Army gunned down five terrorists in Chowgam village near Qazigund.
