Anantnag: Two terrorists have been gunned down in an encounter which broke out early morning in Muniward area of Khanabal of south Kashmir's Anantnag district.
Confirming this, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police SP Vaid tweeted, "Anantnag encounter completed, 2 bodies of terrorists along with 2 weapons recovered from the site. A clean operation with precision."
A joint team of Army's 1st Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operations Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon and search operation at Binpora, Muniward area of Khanabal at around 4.45 am in the morning.
"This was a joint operation of the Army, SOG and CRPF. They launched a cordon and search operation in the area after specific input about the presence of two top terror commanders", a senior police officer told MyNation.
The terrorists opened fire while the security forces were zeroing in on the suspected house, which resulted in an encounter.
Meanwhile, local authorities have snapped internet services in most parts of Anantnag and Kulgam district following the encounter in the area.
