The space organisation will not only help Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) from getting the city roads pothole free, but will aid the civic body with a host of problems.

After several failed attempts of making the roads free from menacing potholes, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagare Palike (BBMP) is now set to get some help from above, literally. Yes, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has come to this civic body's rescue. The space organisation will not only help BBMP from getting the city roads pothole free but will aid the civic body with a host of problems. From the encroachment of lakes, illegal dumping of garbage, encroachment of land properties, property owners violating laws, etc.

According to reports, the BBMP signed a memorandum with ISRO in 2016. Data analysis taken by the space organisation from satellites will be initiated from January 2019. ISRO will provide the necessary spatial information of all the 198 wards in Bengaluru, every six months.

BBMP will also get satellite analysis to match properties in real time in BBMP maps to make corrections in case of errors. ISRO's geoportal, Bhuvan will also reportedly help BBMP in updating landscape data, so that the Finance and Revenue and IT department can physically visit the spot for verification.

As per reports, training of BBMP officials to analyse the data retrieved by ISRO has already begun. BBMP has also instructed its employees to collect all the necessary data by December so the analysis can be initiated from January 2019.
