IndiGo passengers stranded for hours due to snag in airline’s system

Passengers were left stranded for hours inside the terminal buildings of several airports in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore owing to major internal system error across India that lasted for 90 minutes

New Delhi: A new day, another set of problems for Indian domestic passengers flying with IndiGo airlines on Sunday. 

Passengers were left stranded for hours inside the terminal buildings of several airports in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore owing to major internal system error across India that lasted for 90 minutes. Passengers from Hyderabad and Chennai also faced delayed flights and many were forced to miss their connecting flights. 

Some passengers are still waiting at the airports for the flights to take off due to the operational backlog caused by the system error.  

"Our system was down at all airports for a while, we are expecting the counters to be crowded more than usual. Seek patience and co-operation," the airline tweeted.

Meanwhile, the airline claims that the system has been restored now. "We regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers this afternoon due to the system being down across airports for around 90 minutes. Our flights and check-in system are working normally," said the spokesperson for the airline. 

The airline has been in the news since last year due to multiple allegations of misbehaviour. Ace shuttler PV Sindhu accused IndiGo employees of misbehaviour and a video of a passenger being thrashed by its ground staff at the Delhi airport went viral on social media. Due to the video, IndiGo faced major embarrassment and public criticism.
