Indian Army has declared the year 2018 as the `Year of the Disabled Soldier in Line of Duty’. This was done so as to honour those brave soldiers, who despite sustaining serious injuries, served the country with undying spirit.
Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat will be visiting Mamun Military Station on November 12 'Samman Samaroh', which is being organised by Indian Army for those brave hearts, who sustained serious injuries in the line of duty. In the two-days program, Indian Army will honour those specially-abled soldiers, who gave their life for mother India that highlights their commitment towards their duty.

For the initiative of the Indian Army, Western Command conducted a series of outreach programs from July to November 2018 to connect with brave hearts including those residing in remote areas.
An Army official told MyNation that this event is organised with an aim to assure disabled soldiers of the commitment of the Indian Army towards them. “Over 500 disabled soldiers with their families from the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, UP, Haryana, Delhi and Chandigarh are likely to attend the function. The event would also be graced by three Param Vir Chakra awardees and several eminent disabled soldiers,” he added.
