India on its way to becoming one of the three richest countries in the world, says Mukesh Ambani

The billionaire businessman said on Tuesday that the country's tech-savvy young population will be the key strength 

New Delhi: Billionaire businessman Mukesh Ambani has expressed immense hope for the country's future. Speaking at a conference in the Capital, the Reliance Industries chairman claimed that India was now in a position to lead the fourth industrial revolution courtesy its tech-savvy young population and was on the way to becoming one of the three richest countries in the world.

"Very few in the world thought that our country's prospects were bright. Today our GDP is nearing $3 trillion, and India is well on its way to becoming one of the three richest countries in the world," he said. Ambani also added that the country is becoming a breeding ground for disruptive ideas that will change the world, adding that there is also a pressing need to encourage technologies for water conservation, soil management, precision farming and waste reduction to enhance agricultural productivity.

"The fourth industrial revolution is now upon us. It is marked by a fusion of technologies straddling the physical, digital and biological worlds. I can say with full confidence that India has a chance of not just participating in the fourth industrial revolution, but also leading it," he said.

The richest man in India, he also shared that his telecom company is striving to improve India's dismal position in the global ranking for fixed broadband with state-of-the-art digital infrastructure that provides mobile and broadband connectivity across the country, with the largest fibre footprint.
