People can now follow #IndiaIndependenceDay to see what’s happening in the country and around the globe on Independence Day
Micro-blogging website Twitter, on Tuesday, announced the launch of Twitter Lite app in 21 countries, including India. Similar to its contemporaries Facebook Lite and Youtube Go, Twitter Lite helps users save on data while on the app. The company is also running a promotional campaign for the app on the occasion of Indian Independence Day. People can now follow #IndiaIndependenceDay to see what’s happening in the country and around the globe on Independence Day.
With a size of only 3MB, Twitter Lite minimizes data usage as well, so even if someone is on a slower network, the tweets will load faster on the app.
Twitter has also made a special emoji to go with the special day- a Red Fort emoji for twitters using the hashtags #IndiaIndependenceDay or #IndependenceDayIndia. The emoji will be available on the site till August 19.
