The meeting lasted for around 30 min and that participants from the two sides exchanged their views about maintaining peace along the LoC and the international border
Srinagar: Officers of Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistani Rangers held a sector commanders-level meeting at the border outpost Octroi. A BSF commandant received his counterpart from the Rangers on the zero line.
“Both the Sector Commanders reviewed the existing situation along the Line of Control and Working Boundary; agreed to undertake all possible measures to maintain the existing situation ensuring peace and avoidance of hardships to the civilians along the Line of Control”, an official statement by Border Security Force reads.
Sources told MyNation that the meeting lasted for around 30 min and that the participants from the two sides exchanged their views as to how peace can be maintained along the LoC. The two sides pledged to maintain peace and tranquillity along the international border as well.
The Pakistani delegation comprised Rangers, civil officials and eminent citizens from the other side of the LoC. The two sides agreed to ensure a cordial atmosphere along the India-Pakistan border and the LoC.
This meeting is the first of the type after the new government of Pakistan led by cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan took charge. This scheduled meeting was held in the afternoon on August 20.
