Jammu: The Indian Army on Tuesday shot dead three heavily armed terrorists, foiling two separate infiltration attempts in the Akhnoor sector along the international border in Jammu and Keran sector in the Kupwara district.
In the Keran sector, two terrorists were killed on Tuesday when they were trying to sneak into the Indian territory.
A senior Army officer told MyNation that an infiltration bid was eliminated by alert soldiers in the Keran sector of Kupwara district today.
The operation is still underway.
The identity and affiliation of the killed terrorists are being ascertained by the Army and local police. Heavy arms and ammunition were recovered from both.
Another infiltration bid was foiled in Jammu early this morning where the intruder was shot dead while he was trying to cross over to Indian territory through LoC.
A source in the Army, while confirming the killing of the first heavily armed terrorist, told MyNation that jawans deployed along the LoC noticed some suspicious movement and challenged the intruder this morning. The intruder was trying to take cover in the forest area but he was shot dead by the alert jawans.
The body of the intruder has been recovered along with huge cache of arms and ammunition including five pistols,10 magazines, 60 bullets, one AK rifle with two magazines and 234 rounds of ammunition, 15 grenades and 12 fuses of improvised explosive devices or IEDs.
